Earlier this month I asked a flight attendant to move her hair so I could read her tag so I could give positive feedback. I guess asking her name would have worked too and been less awkward, but I had already been trying to see it so I had gone too far down that route.

Yeah, I'm beyond reading name tags. Too many years working outside in the sun fixed that for me. I need to be really close just like you so yeah, that's not happening. Better to be a misgenderer than a sexual harasser.

Not yet IMHO -- the United Statement that she was denied boarding due to carry-ons has been refuted by their own agent who on video said it was her words. And the woman and her family flew home on AA, and were not accommodated on a later flight as UA claims.
United had better walk this back soon -- before it gets out of hand again....

The UA employee in the terminal was attempting to find out what was going on. Although that employee did say "for what came out of your mouth" to me that employee was doing an investigation on what really happened.

2 different narratives are being told. Why side with and believe the passenger?

Because of the video and then UA's statement of what happened has multiple errors.... They flew AA home -- UA doesn't have a clue...
Just like in the past -- UA throws out a nonsense statement out there and people are inclined to believe -- this woman is no fool and has video -- I'm betting that someone actually told her she committed a hate crime....

I wouldn't be surprised if the woman resorted to possibly bigoted insults after being told she was bringing on too many carry-ons and that's why she was ultimately off-loaded. That wouldn't conflict with either the UA statement OR the gate agent statement.
It wouldn't be the first time someone insulted an FA after being told they weren't special and it won't be the last.

Important to realize the actual incident was not recorded, rather the only thing filmed was the woman giving out only her side and her interaction with the investigating UA employee. So that is not a good reason to automatically believe her. Regarding what airline she ultimately took to AUS, she paid AA on her own, so that's on nobody but her.
Actually I think this incident happened at the gate. If so, that interaction was likely recorded by security cameras, and I'd really love to see the recorded, unfiltered full interaction.

Don't disagree -- but UA's official statement was completely wrong on multiple fronts -- and she has video proof of it -- and given UA's history (and their quickly issued statement that was completely wrong) why are so so quick to dismiss the passenger's account -- because everything posted to date supports that version -- NOT UA's...
Given the passenger's perspective and their videos -- what would you have done? You are told you can't fly because of what you said -- you pay AA to fly you home -- UA issues statement that says you had too many carry on's and that flew you home later -- both lies....
It's easy to dismiss these things -- except when it's not... She has video proof of being told she was not allowed to fly because of her words -- she flew AA home -- both things which based in UA statements are not true -- so why do you take UA's word versus the given proof? You would think after Dao people would give a bit more grace -- apparently not.... Not anything against you -- but I find the general attitude towards passengers awful....

UA's statement after the incident was short and succinct. A part of me does wish that even more information was provided. I am more critical on the passenger's statement because she only retells part of the incident and something fishy is clearly going on. Why did she not mention the carry on bag issue? What other information did she left out? This can bring down someone's credibility. We actually don't know if the passenger took UA or AA back. Yes she did book a ticket on AA, but did she actually take it? But I think that detail is quite trivial.

Hmm, good question. I do try to keep my interactions with airline employees at a minimum, to prevent situations like this from happening. Although there are a lot of great employees at UA in all sorts of positions.

Technically a retelling of what happened isn't really proof, otherwise what happened would have been crystal clear and this discussion would have been a lot different. Although the UA employee she later talked to did say "for what came out of your mouth", I'd argue those were not a smart usage of words there as she was investigating.

It wasn't a retelling -- it was a documentary.... UA issued a statement that was wrong factually on every front -- and before they knew that there was video proof... I'm tired of this stuff from UA -- your employees aren't always right (which was the Dao defense) -- in my estimation they screwed this up royally -- and I'm betting there is more video than has been shared....

There ZRH spokesperson should be assigned to handle this fiasco.

LOL -- TBH that is probably the problem here -- and UA trying to be so virtuous will once again not work out well.... Nurse Ratched didn't have to worry about being videoed .....
