Appearance[]

Misty is a short, slender girl with a fit build, spiky red hair tied into a side ponytail with blue elastic rubber band, green eyes and fair skin.

Regular outfit[]

Misty is shown wearing a yellow crop top, denim jean shorts (dark or light blue at times although turquoise is the intended color) held up with red suspenders and red sneakers with yellow lining without socks but also wore yellow and white sneakers.

Pokémon the Series: Ruby and Sapphire[]

Misty is shown wearing a yellow sleeveless top or vest with a large blue button on the front and matching shorts, worn over some sort of dark-red under-all.

Personality[]

In the early episodes, Misty is depicted as having a wicked temper, stubborn temperament, and little patience. As the series progresses, however, she gradually shows herself to be kind and sensible.

Although she regularly displays a somewhat romantic streak, Misty constantly reins in Brock when he becomes enamored with cute girls (style of Barbie dolls), often pulling him away by the ear. She has a slight rivalry with Ash, and she is also terrified of most Bug-type Pokémon. Misty aims to be a world-class Water-type Pokémon trainer despite her sisters' ridicule. She loves all Water Types (although when she was a baby, she got scared from a Gyarados until she conquered her fear when she used her Gyarados against the Invincible Pokemon Brothers) including Ash's Oshawott when she is clinging towards it.

Overview[]

Misty lives in Cerulean City and has three sisters named Daisy, Violet, and Lily. She first came across Ash when she accidentally fished him and his Pikachu out of a river while fishing for water Pokémon. Soon after this incident, Ash borrowed her bike, attempting to flee from a flock of wild Spearow. The bike was later charred by a Thunder Shock from Pikachu. Misty told Ash she would not leave him alone until he replaced the bike and committed to following him on his journey, and the two soon became close friends. She made a Special-type of lure to fish Water Type Pokemon as she give one to Ash. After retrieving her bike (that was accidentally destroyed by Pikachu) at the end of the Johto League Silver Conference, she returns to the Cerulean Gym and resumes her duties as the Gym Leader due to her sisters going on a vacation. She left her bike back home in sometimes to travel with Ash and his companions.

As such, she was not featured as a character in the later seasons until she appeared again in the Sun & Moon series, only appearing in a few episodes and specials before that. She became a central character in Pokémon Chronicles, a Pokémon the Series spin-off. She maintains her friendship with Ash and once greeted him when he returned to Pallet Town following a long stint in Hoenn. Her Togepi evolved into a Togetic as well she release it to protect the other Togepi. She got an Azurill from Tracey Sketchit to replace her released Togetic. Misty returns to Pokemon Sun and Moon as well she obtained a Keystone on her ponytail hair to mega evolve her Gyarados.

Trivia[]

  • Irisfrom the Black and White series resembles Misty, as they both argued with Ash, have both fear of certain types, Misty for Bug-type, Iris for Ice-type, and their game counterparts are gym leaders.
    • Unlike Misty, who is the gym leader of Cerulean City in all Kanto and Johto games, Iris is the gym leader of Opelucid City only in Pokémon White.
    • Psyduck, One of her earliest water type catches in the whole of the anime, also happens to share a 320 base stat total with Iris' signature Pokémon, Axew.
  • Former director and storyboard artist of Pokémon the Series, Masamitsu Hidaka, stated in an interview that Misty will not return as a main character in future seasons, but will continue to make guest appearances from time to time. However, this statement is regarded as moot as she returned in To Be A Pokémon Master as the main character once more.
  • While it is never mentioned in the anime, the July 2006 issue of K-Zone Magazine revealed Misty's surname is Williams.
  • Misty is one of the three who drags Brock away from women (along with Max and Brock's Croagunk).
  • Misty has entomophobia.
  • Misty reveals that other than bugs she also dislikes carrots and peppers.
  • After becoming a Gym Leader full time, Misty wears a blue bikini underneath her usual clothes whenever she's going to be near a body of water.
