  • Cheese:You can’t have pizza without cheese! Pick your favorite pizza cheese to add to the center of these pizza pockets to give them a gooey filling your family will love.

How do I Make Pizza Pockets with Crescent Rolls?

Using crescent rolls to make pizza pockets is one of the easiest ways to make your own calzones at home. Since the dough is already prepared, all you have to do is fill it up with toppings!

Step 1: Prepare the Crescent Roll Dough

But before you can start filling, you’ll need to unroll your crescent rolls and prepare them to be stuffed. Start by separating each crescent roll triangle. Then, use a rolling pin to roll out the dough slightly. This will stretch the crescent roll triangles, making them slightly bigger.

Most crescent roll packages come with eight triangles. That means you’ll be able to make four pizza pockets with one package. Set four of the triangles on a flat surface. Or place them directly on your baking sheet to make things easier for you.

Step 2: Spread the Pizza Sauce

Start by spreading a layer of pizza sauce on top of each triangle. Be sure to avoid spreading the sauce along the edges of the crescent roll. You’ll need to have bare edges so you can stick the top roll to the bottom roll and seal the edges to keep the filling from leaking out.

Step 3: Add Cheese

After that, you can start adding your toppings. First, place some cheese in the center of your pizza slice. There are a variety of cheeses you could use for your pizzas:

  • Shredded cheese: To give your pizza a more traditional feel, add shredded cheese to the pizza pockets. Mozzarella or Italian blend cheeses are a great option for your pizzas.
  • Sliced cheese: Another option is to use sliced cheese for your pizza pockets. This will help keep the cheese more contained inside the pocket. You could use sliced mozzarella or provolone cheese.
  • String cheese: If you don’t have sliced mozzarella on hand but want to easily add cheese without the mess of shredded cheese, why not use string cheese? Just peel the strings off the cheese, then place them in the center of the pizza.

Step 4: Fill Pizza Pockets with toppings

Now it’s time to add some toppings to your pizza! This where you can get really creative. While my recipe uses only pepperoni, there’s no reason you can’t add more toppings to your pizza pockets.

  • More meat: If your family loves meat on their pizza, adding more meat toppings to the center of your pockets is a great idea. You could add ground sausage, bacon, Canadian bacon, ham, or ground beef.
  • Veggies: Adding veggies to your pizza pockets is another great way to give them some pizza flavor. And there are a variety of different vegetables that would taste amazing in these pizza pockets, like onions, peppers, olives, and tomatoes.

No matter what additional toppings you choose, be sure to chop them finely to keep the center of the pizza pocket from getting too large. A fully stuffed pocket is much harder to seal!

Step 5: Bake the Crescent Roll Pizza Pockets

When each of your pizza pockets is full of cheese and toppings, you can start sealing the pockets. Place the remaining crescent roll triangles on top of the toppings and press the edges together to seal them. Then, place the pizza pockets in the oven to bake for around 15 minutes, until the crescent rolls are golden brown.
